The roots of a lotus flower are embedded in muddy water.  The  strong stem will grow up towards the surface to unfold a pristine flower that appears to float above the water.  

 

The humble origin of the lotus flower might not seem capable of producing such a captivating blossom, but the outcome can differ greatly from the origin.  This illustration of the inseparability of cause and effect is a guiding principle for the healing process we utilize at Lotus.
